Vietnam and Canada strengthen in-depth relations

(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh began a visit to Canada on Monday. He held talks with Governor General David Johnson, President of the Senate Noel Kinsella, President of the House of Commons Andrew Scheer, and a number of Canadian ministers.

Deputy Prime Minister Ninh proposed that the two countries increase the exchange of visits, diversify cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, energy, oil and gas, science and technology, education, and labor. He expressed his hope for increased ties between the two legislative bodies and peoples to boost mutual understanding and lay the foundation for further cooperation. He asked the government and parliament of Canada to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate into Canadian society, preserve their national cultural identity, and contribute to friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He said that Vietnam supports Canada’s effort to strengthen relations with ASEAN countries and countries in the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

The Canadian leaders agreed to furthering relations with Vietnam. Governor General David Johnson hoped that trade and investment with Vietnam will increase several times in the years to come. During his stay in Ottawa, Ninh visited and met with the Vietnamese embassy staff. The same day, he left Ottawa for Toronto.
